AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Mnemosyne
kissed my childhood
As Clio remembered my first cry
Urania kept me amused to all these tragedies
Of
living
As Thalia survived me with humor
Calliope and Erato reached me
In my nocturnal travels
Terpsichore loved me
Though I never thought of
Dancing shoes

I married Euterpe
Polyhymnia sang the wedding song
And after the honeymoon
Melpomene sent a streetcar
Waiting

Hesiod sat on Helicon
Reciting a new tattered piece.
